Sellers of fake clothing brand penalized

Xiushui market in Beijing was penalized for selling fake international brands of clothing.

During an investigation conducted on April 18, 2006, the local government found some supermarkets involved in this illegal practice.

Shanghai Lianjie Supermarket Co Ltd was fined RMB300,000 as fake brand of the famous label Louis Vuitton were found to be sold there.

To protect the intellectual property rights of clothing brands, China is conducting strict check on its markets. Authorities are firm to throw fake brands out of the Chinese market, sources say.

Following investigation and confiscation of fake clothing brands recently, Shanghai Xianyang market was forced to shutter.
