Defence Authorities have designed a clothing plan that requires an investment of around AUS $300 million between 2007-2011.
Recently, the soldiers complained about the badly fitting shoes and combat jackets that were easily combustible, which forced the administrators to take immediate steps.
A thorough investigation of defence practices was conducted and the executives were provided with 29 suggestions for the new attire.
Defence Minister, Dr Brendan Nelson, explained, “The ADF Clothing and Personal Equipment Procurement Plan is significant for not only informing industry of Defence's intentions into the future but providing industry with the opportunity to provide the latest and best available clothing and personal equipment to ADF personnel”
He assured that the ADF plan will be updated every June as the knowledge about the personal's needs increases and also believes that this project will strengthen relations with textile industry.
