Retailers & suppliers to expand clothing consumption of Beijing

Yesterday, first information exchange meeting of clothing brands was held in Beijing. In the meeting, experts discussed various aspects of development.

Participants in the meeting came to the conclusion that retail enterprises should also actively take part in expansion of clothing consumption along with suppliers.

They also stressed on need to treat domestic brands on a par with foreign brands by providing concessions to them.

In 2006, garment sales of Beijing city reached RMB31.2 billion and total retail sales of consumer goods was RMB388.047 billion.

However, clothing sales accounted for less than ten percent of total retail sales of consumer goods.

Moreover, apparel consumption of the city is estimated at 15 to 20 percent.
