Textile industry expressed surprise on the Governments decision to import Ghana@50 jubilee cloth from China.
Recently, Chairman of Ghana@50 Planning Committee confessed that most of the jubilee clothes were imported from China.
The move was taken after Government felt that local textile companies are not capable of producing huge quantity of anniversary clothes.
However, garment and textile industry claims that Government has taken this decision before submission of designs by domestic textile companies this month.
At present, sector employs merely 3,000 workers compared to about 25,000 in 70s and 80s.
Now, latest move by the Government indicates about more difficulties in coming times.
Earlier, Europe was Africa's biggest trading partner, but share declined gradually from 44 percent to 32 percent in past ten after penetration by China.
