Mahindras to develop multi-product special economic zone

JAIPUR:

Mahindra World City, a joint venture between Mahindra Gesco Developers Ltd and Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation Ltd (RIICO) is being developed as a multi-product special economic zone, for providing cutting-edge business facilities in the state.

Construction of an IT and ITES SEZ spread over 188 acres is involved in phase I of the project with plans to develop a technology park within IT SEZ offering built-up space to sector-specific players.

IT majors Infosys and Wipro have ahown a firm commitment to develop campuses in World City along with several leading IT and ITES companies keen on setting up shop in proposed SEZ.

The proposed SEZ will also offer facilities for industries which include manufacturing, handicrafts, apparel, textiles, and gems and jewellery sectors.

After completion, the SEZ is expected to generate direct employment for over 1 lakh people and investment of over Rs10,000-crore.

A world-class warehousing and logistics zones within the proposed SEZ to make Jaipur a logistics hub of northern India is also under consideration.
