Textile sector is concerned over everyday import of around 15 tons of used clothing in Bolivia which has incurred loss of around $30 million a year.
The alarmed Government has launched a voluntary re-conversion program, through which it will grant loans and technical assistance to micro businessmen who sell imported used clothing.
According to Celinda Sosa, Production and Micro Business Minister, Government will release $10 million from Bank of Productive Development and also plans to offer technical support to stop huge economic loss to the country.
The new program will encourage used clothing sellers to take part in productive associations of six fundamental fields like textiles, leather, wood, food, metals and tourism.
The domestic textile producers are happy with the Government's initiative and support it whole-heartedly.
