The Five-week Crop Over Festival, marking successful sugarcane harvest season, is celebrated annually amidst July- August.

One of the most special and significant event in Barbados, Crop Over blooms with colorful presentations and displays an array of exquisite costumes, each year.

However, now people would face taxation on the costumes of this festival, as the Comptroller of Customs, under the VAT Act has decided to generate more revenue for the West Minister Government.

For each costume of any kind Customs and Excise Department will levy standard rate is 15 percent.

Barbados dealt with Value Added Taxes under West Minster Bureaucrat for the first time on January 1 2007. Till date Barbados has instated 11 different taxes.

A Concession of 7.5 percent is given on Holiday and Vacation Accommodation. Certain item and services are not liable under VAT Act.

This year counts on the reveler's gaiety and joy enveloped with VAT.
