Dress-code for Govt employees
29 Aug '07
1 min read
Bihar Government has followed in the footsteps of
Kerala
and has re-issued the dress-code for its employees.
This code requires staff members to dress subtly opting for soothing materials and patterns that will help maintain decorum.
While men have been asked to wear dhotis or formal shirts and pants, women must be seen in sarees with appropriate blouses or decent salwar-kameez.
Ceremonial occasions like Independence Day are the only exceptions, when officials are expected to turn up in prince coats.
No jeans, t-shirts, skirts or bright and gaudy patterns will be entertained. The person violating the dress-code will be fined heavily.
Dress-code for Government work places has always existed but has been violated tremendously. This new circular was an attempt to re-emphasize it.
This code was introduced in 1954 and experts believe that as times change the law needed to be modified.
