As the stakeholders could not strike a consensus, one more meeting convened to fix new minimum wage for garment workers, went undecided.

After constitution of the Minimum Wage Commission in January, this was its 10th meeting. Even during this meet, stakeholders failed to come to a mutual decision and thus, the meeting was deferred to meet next day, informed a board member.

Since, workers for long have been demanding to raise their current minimum wage of Tk 1,662.50 to Tk 5,000 per month; the Government might come out with a new wage structure by July 28.

As cited by a board member, the factory owners have depicted their readiness to raise wages to Tk 2,500 per month.
