Pakistan has declared the Quaid-i-Azam Apparel Park (QAAP) as a special economic zone (SEZ) where a single window facility has been offered to local and foreign investors. The facility, to be managed by the Punjab Industrial Estates Development & Management Company (PIEDMC), was recently inaugurated by Mian Aslam Iqbal, minister for industries, commerce and trade of Punjab state.

Iqbal said the park will provide employment to 500,000-600,000 people, besides opening the doors to young and new entrepreneurs, according to Pakistani media reports.

QAAP will have a grid station, underground electricity network, dedicated interchange, technical education centre and labour colony. (DS)
