PM Hasina seeks more UAE investment in Bangladesh

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina recently urged the business community in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to raise investment in Bangladesh special economic zones (SEZs) and high-tech parks. She was virtually addressing from her residence the Joint Business Council (JBC) meeting organised by the business communities of both the countries.

"Our financial markets are now ready to support advanced private equity and fin-tech solutions. The Digital Bangladesh that we had aspired for almost twelve years ago is now a reality. I, therefore, invite you to come and partner with us," she was quoted as saying by Bangla media reports.

Bangladesh is moving fast in urbanisation, industrialisation, and in raising tele-density to connect individuals to governance, innovation and markets, she said.

"Our aim is to connect our factors of production seamlessly into the global markets," she added, seeking investments in readymade garments, leather, jute, food, information and communication technology and IT-enabled services.
