The US National Cotton Council (NCC) has appreciated the US Government’s efforts to update the North American Free Trade Agreement and welcomed the new US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), saying it will ensure continued duty-free access for US cotton to Mexico and Canada. Mexico and Canada are among the top five export markets for US cotton textile and apparel.

The NCC is pleased to see inclusion of provisions like promotion of greater use of US-origin textile products, incentives for North American textile production and strengthening of customs enforcement in textile and apparel products, an NCC press release said quoting chairman Ron Craft.

The Memphis-based NCC’s mission is to ensure the ability of the US cotton industry’s seven segments to compete effectively and profitably in the raw cotton, oilseed and US-manufactured product markets at home and abroad. (DS)
