Vietnam’s ministry of industry and trade (MoIT) will continue to support domestic businesses after the novel coronavirus epidemic is stamped out, minister handling the portfolio Tran Tuan Anh said after visiting the Ha Tay Chemical-Weave Co. Ltd. and the Garment 10 Corporation factories in Hanoi on March 5 to study difficulties arising due to the epidemic.

If the epidemic is controlled in the second quarter, domestic businesses should take advantage from the third quarter at home and abroad and focus resources to resume their business, he said. The ministry would work to create favourable conditions for domestic firms, he said.

Since the outbreak started, the ministry has been evaluating its impact on the country’s economic and trade activities and has proposed solutions to other government bodies to help businesses, he said.

Garment 10 Corporation faces a lack of raw material and production has been interrupted, the minister was informed. If the epidemic continues, Ha Tay Chemical-Weave Company, whose main products are vulcanised shoes, may run out of raw material for production.
