AAFA hails AGOA'S Third-Country Fabric provision renewal

This legislation would make technical corrections to the U.S./Central America Free Trade Agreement, extend third country fabric provisions to the African Growth and Opportunity Act, and renew the President's authority to maintain the import ban on goods from Burma from entering the U.S. market. 

The legislation must now be signed by President Barack Obama before being implemented.

“I am pleased the U.S. Senate has been able to resolve outstanding issues that had prevented the passage of this much needed legislation,” said AAFA President and CEO Kevin M. Burke. 

“Now that both chambers have cleared this legislation, four million workers in the U.S. apparel and footwear industry can continue to rely on these programs to remain competitive in the global market.  Upon President Obama’s signature, AAFA looks forward to working with Congress and the Administration to ensure a smooth implementation process that provides greater predictability for our members.”
