A state-of-the-art Textiles Apparel Park to be set up at Jetpur, has made the business fraternity primarily associated with textile dying and printing profession, enthusiastic.
Apparel Park will be instrumental in increasing the turnover between Rs 190 crore and Rs 200 crore per annum with addition of 100 new units, said Virjibhai Vekaria, President of Jetpur Dying & Printing Association.
The trade is presently in the range of Rs85 crore and Rs100 crore per annum.
Pollution, fashion modes, Chinese trade aggression and shortage of raw materials has been the cause of declining textile industry of Jetpur.
Vekaria informed that, units in Jetpur are involved basically in printing of textiles and its raw material requirement is satisfied from ginning units surrounding the area.
About 80 per cent of African sub-continent's main dress code, 'Khanga' & 'Kitanga' style was exported by Jetpur till 2001.
Jetpur's contribution went down to 40 per cent due to cheap Chinese products, explained Bosamia, business operator of the city.
