KSIC to unveil silk ready-made apparels for women

Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation (KSIC), the torch bearer and a state owned entity for the silk industry in Karnataka is planning a foray in to readymade apparels for women, for which it has tied up the National Institute of Fashion Design (NIFT).

NIFT will help design the garments for KSIC and has already supplied 142 designs. KSIC plans to attract the young consumer segment of the market with its offerings and is planning to open showrooms in Delhi, Mumbai and Pune in 2009 for the same.

KSIC also plans to introduce designer tops and chudidars for women. It has already started selling silk dhotis and ties for men and will shortly launch printed silk sarees for formal and casual occasions.
