11 companies to invest $243.71 mn in Bangladesh's BEPZA EZ

Eleven enterprises have signed agreements with the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) Economic Zone (EZ) to invest $243.71 million in establishing industries there. Nova Intima Limited, a Hong Kong-British Virgin Island owned ladies undergarments manufacturing company, will be investing $28 million in the economic zone.

Nova Intima will annually produce 60 million units of ladies undergarments and fabrics, and accessories for producing those undergarments. About 5,625 Bangladeshi nationals will get employment opportunities in this factory, BEPZA said in a media release.

The company has also invested $22 million in two other units in Chattogram and Karnaphuli EPZ. Around 6,000 Bangladeshi nationals are working in these factories.

In presence of major general Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, ndc, psc, the executive chairman of BEPZA, Ali Reza Mazid, member (investment promotion) of BEPZA and Vijay Uttam, managing director of Nova Intima Limited signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations at BEPZA Complex, Dhaka.
