The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) recently praised the House Ways and Means Committee and Senate Finance Committee for formally introducing the bipartisan Miscellaneous Tariff Bill (MTB) and urged quick Congressional passage of the bill. The MTB enacts the temporary reduction or suspension of duties on certain US imports.

The MTB will lead to the elimination or reduction of duties on imports that are not available or manufactured in the United States and this will directly result in long-needed duty relief for American companies, providing capital for reinvestment in the American workforce, research and development, according to AAFA president and CEO Rick Helfenbein.

AAFA submitted comments to the House Ways and Means Committee regarding the MTB on October 25, 2017, according to a press release from the association. (DS)
