As the appetite for more sustainable fashion practices grows, the study revealed British women’s wardrobes are bursting with over £13 billion worth of unwanted clothes.
However, the research shows that awareness of more responsible fashion practices are growing, as 92 per cent said they would prefer to sell these kinds of items on to someone else, rather than simply throwing them away.
But for many, not having the time to do so or not wanting to deal with members of the public puts them off.
An estimated 235 million items of unwanted clothing went to landfill in 2017. A growing number of services like Patatam are being established to avoid this.
