Reflecting the growing importance of corporate responsibility, Deckers Brands has announced that it has officially joined the United Nations Global Compact, the world's largest voluntary corporate citizenship initiative. The company has informed UN secretary-general Ban Ki-moon about its commitment to the Global Compact and its ten principles.

“Our support for the United Nations Global Compact is a formal commitment of Deckers Brands to conduct our business with the utmost respect for universal principles around human rights, labour standards, responsible environmental practices, and anti-corruption,” said Deckers Brands President and CEO Dave Powers in a letter addressed to Ban Ki-moon.

“We look forward to this partnership and hope to continue to show our global commitment to being a good corporate citizen,” he added.

Launched in 2000, the United Nations Global Compact is the world's largest corporate sustainability initiative. It brings together over 8,000 participating companies with UN agencies, labour, civil society and governments to advance universal principles in the areas of human rights, labour standards, the environment and anti-corruption.
