Cairo-baed Garment IO recently raised $450,000, closing its seed round from Egypt Ventures and 500 Startups (Falcons), which it plans to use for future investment in its Egypt operations. Garment IO helps garment producers increase productivity using real-time data from production lines through a plug-and-play Internet of Things (IoT) smart terminal.

The company was founded in 2017 by Ahmed Nounou and Mahmoud Sabae.

Garment IO terminals can be installed easily on all factory machines, requiring just a simple power outlet and Wi-Fi. In addition to using the terminals for data, these can also be used for employee check-ins, according to reports from the Middle East.

The software provides information on production order tracking and bottlenecks, style tracking, live transaction feed, quality level and machine downtime in English and in Arabic.

In the near future, the start-up hopes to expand to Jordan, Tunisia, Morocco and Turkey.
