Although not permitted for elite racing, the Adizero Prime X 2 Strung is ideal for ambitious runners aiming to set new personal bests. The shoe embodies Adidas' commitment to revolutionising running in 2023. The boundary-breaking Adizero Prime X 2 Strung is the first in a series of innovation-packed racing shoes launching this season, according to a company press release.
"Without the confines of the usual rules, we had the space to unleash the full creative capabilities of our product design team," said Coralie Ho-Von, global product manager of running footwear at Adidas. "This enabled us to create a shoe that pushes the boundaries of running footwear. The insights we gained from in-depth athlete testing led to a shoe with improved stability, enhanced spring in the fore and midfoot, and a better fit. We are excited to reveal more innovations in the upcoming season."
The shoe is a testament to Adidas' ongoing efforts to develop the most advanced products for its global running community. It benefits from a series of innovative technological updates, including a Strung Upper, three layers of Lightstrike Pro, a Continental Outsole, and a two Carbon-Infused Plate System.
The Strung Upper is meticulously crafted with layered strengthening in areas that require it the most, particularly in the midfoot and heel. Targeted flexibility is also provided in key expansion zones in the forefoot. The inclusion of a knitted tongue enhances the secure fit.
Three layers of Lightstrike Pro create a stack height of 50 mm. The all-new midsole, sandwiched between two full-length layers of foam, helps to reduce weight, and adds more spring to the fore and midfoot. The outsole features a Continental compound, offering superior grip on challenging surfaces.
The new Lightstrike Pro core is complemented by two carbon-infused plates, designed together to create a platform for increased responsiveness throughout the run.
