All major airports in India could soon be home to shops selling personal protection equipment (PPE) to be set up by though Airports Authority of India (AAI) contracts with private parties. AAI has reportedly invited tenders and the process has already been initiated for several airports like Amritsar, Pune, Patna, Coimbatore and Agartala.

To be located inside the check-in area, near the departure area or on the city side of the airport, as per the availability of space, the shops will sell PPE like coveralls, face masks, gloves, disposable goggles and sanitisers as specified by health ministry, according to a report in a top business daily.

These shops will be operational from June and AAI will ensure products are affordably priced.
