According to the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers Association (BGMEA), RSC has already started inspections and BGMEA has scheduled 250 inspections per month.
The question of long-term funding of RSC is unclear, according to a premiere trade publication for apparel and textile industry. The Accord spent an average of $5 million-$6 million on annual oversight. For the first year, i.e., till May 2021, the signatory brands of the Accord have indicated they will fund RSC operations, according to Rob Wayss, executive director, Accord Foundation.
The primary task ahead for RSC is to continue with remediation after five months of suspended inspections due to the pandemic.
