Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA) has hailed the duty-free waiver granted to exports of textile and apparel products to the European Union.
PRGMEA said the value-added textile sector was suffering badly due to various factors and this measure would aid the sector to a great extent.
The package which has been sanctioned for two years can be extended for one more year and will applicable for 65 textile and apparel goods.
The EU package had been devised to help Pakistan face the devastating effect of the floods which affected the country last year.
Earlier, India, Bangladesh and few other countries had raised their objection to the package on ground that help in any other form should be extended, rather then the duty-free waiver.
