Tirupur has attracted, yet another international fashion retailer.
Next, a British fashion brand having more than 400 outlets in UK and Ireland, revealed its sourcing plans in Tirupur.
Next announced plans to invest Rs100 crore in knitted garments for 2006.
Gwyn Williams, Regional Director, informed that the company will source 40 lakh pieces, pegged at six dollars each.
Over a dozen exporters have been approached so far in a bid to tie-up the supplier channel.
Williams said that they were reluctant about the garments from India considering the quality and delivery, but that had changed in the recent times.
They were more confident now especially regarding Tirupur as it has a healthy reputation and good facilities.
The company assured to extend design, commercial and technical support to the apparel exporters.
