Limonta was founded in 1893 in Costamasnaga, near Como, a region that boasts one of Europe's longest surviving textile traditions. Initial manufacturing operations specialized in hangings and jacquard fabrics, products that earned Limonta distinction through the elevated standards of their workmanship.

The Limonta Fabrics division has, since 1955, been producing fabrics for city wear, sportswear and casual wear. It is one of the few European firms to possess its own in-house production equipment for coating, flocking, resin impregnation, and coagulation, as well as a wide selection of textile finishing processes. Tiba, the group dye works has, following substantial capital investment, increased its dyeing capacity to keep up with the sophisticated developments required in serving Limonta Fabrics.
