Atelier GARDEUR will for the first time be presenting men and women’s jeans made of organic cotton certified according to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). Deliveries will go out as a flash range in October 2012. “As was already the case with our established Fairtrade Denim, the uninterrupted transparency of the seal convinced us here,” says Gerhard Kränzle, CEO at GARDEUR GmbH.

“This means the GOTS-certified denims made of organic cotton perfectly supplement our wide range of sustainably produced products.”

The GOTS seal stands for high ecological standards as well as the meeting of social responsibility criteria along the entire supply chain – from cotton farmers, the spinning and weaving mills, production through to logistics. For instance, GOTS clothing must consist of at least 90% natural fibres, at least 70% of which must come from organic cultivation. In production the seal for instance ensures the reduced use of chemicals, energy and water. Annual, sometimes unannounced audits ensure the observance of strict certification criteria.

The Mönchengladbach-based trouser specialist GARDEUR manufactures high-quality and innovative women’s and men’s trousers with a perfect fit. As Germany’s only fully integrated trousers manufacturer, GARDEUR can cover all stages of the development at its atelier, thus ensuring a high standard of craftsmanship and flexible collection control. GARDEUR provides apparel retailers throughout the world with strategic partnerships and marketing support.
