Arvind Mills reports 35% dip in profits

Arvind Mills reported a 35 percent decline in the net profits for the third quarter ending December 2005.

The registered profits in 2004 were Rs36 crore, whereas that recorded in 2005 was Rs23.4 crore.

Shirting volumes was 6.47 million meters at an average realization of Rs125 over 5.67 million meters at Rs132 in 2004.

Denim sales went down 5.5 percent to reach Rs390 crore from Rs413 crore and denim volumes decreased by seven percent.

Denim volumes in the current quarter were 22.85 million meters at an average realization of Rs97 compared with 24.49 million meters at an average realization of Rs103 during the last corresponding quarter.

Arvind Mills has its foothold in the denim fabrics, being one of the top three producers of denim worldwide.

Company owns and manages both the owned brands as well as the licenses of some of the best international brands like Arrow, Lee, Tommy Hilfiger and Wrangler for the Indian domain.
