Leading active youth lifestyle brand Quiksilver, a division of Quiksilver Inc, has announced its newest program, Quik Films.
Designed to recognize exploration, style and personal expression within the filmmaking community, Quik Films is the natural progression for a brand founded on fostering individual athletic and creative talent. Whether the canvas is a mountain, wave, sidewalk or the silver screen, Quiksilver supports the newest and most progressive athletes and artists.
As part of the launch, Quik Films will host a short film contest for aspiring filmmakers during the month of February. It is looking for short productions that resonate with the board riding lifestyle and the personality of the brand, but is not limiting submissions to action-based content only.
Rob Colby, VP of Quiksilver Entertainment, said, "Quiksilver is all about individual style, expanding cultural horizons and demonstrating grace under pressure."
"We have always supported artists, personalities, and athletes who share these qualities. The Quik Films contest will bring our support system to an even broader audience of talented and creative kids around the country. We want to invite you to share your art with us. We'll show it to everyone we know and, if they dig it, we'll help you make more," he added.
Quik Films submissions, required to be two to five minutes in length, will be judged on the basis of narrative structure, original characters and dynamic visuals. Each week during the nine-week preliminary judging period, visitors to the www.quiksilver.com/films website will be able to vote on the top submissions received by the February 28th deadline.
