Ready-made garment exports to the US rose dramatically by 47 percent in February 2006 over January, to reach $653,994,4.
Garment Association of Nepal (GAN) revealed that in the same period of 2005 the exports had dropped 55 percent and had yielded about $445,533,2.
Exports in February 2004 were down 41 percent to reach $990,534,9, whereas in the same year the month of January suffered a 31 percent loss of exports.
However, in the month of January 2003, garment exports to the US had increased by 48 percent.
Basant Pokhrel, First- Vice President, GAN, believes that the trade with the US is improving and added that the exporters are demanding duty-free access to the US markets.
