New York-based womenswear label Suno has joined hands with the famous Japanese casual wear retailer Uniqlo to design a new collection as part of the latter’s latest edition of Designer Invitation Project.

Known for its Africa-inspired bold colourful prints, the American brand’s designer duo, Max Osterweis and Erin Beatty, has created a very straightforward, east-meets-west Japanese Americana styled looks for the collaborative clothing line.

Available for sale from May 20, 2013 onwards, the ensembles, which include blouses, T-shirts, dresses, skirts and jeans, are decorated with cute floral prints and stripes.

Founded in 2008, Suno commands an elite list of clientele that includes the likes of Michelle Obama, Kate Bosworth, Rachel McAdams and Heidi Klum.

Established in 1949, Uniqlo operates outlets in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, France, Malaysia, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the United States.

The retailer’s Designer Invitation Project is a novel initiative that allows designers from around the world to submit entry for possible brand collaborations.
