Leading Indian denim maker Arvind Ltd has announced plans to foray into the branded apparel market by introducing its own private label of ‘Arvind’ apparels.

The Ahmedabad-based textile conglomerate is planning to launch ‘Arvind’ brand of readymade garments to enter the Rs. 20 billion organized branded apparel market in the country, reports Business Standard.

Speaking at the launch of the Arvind Flagship store in Ahmedabad, Mr. Kulin Lalbhai, Executive Director of New Initiatives, Arvind Ltd, said Arvind will be launching an apparel brand soon next year, now that the Arvind Store is coming up.

The company intends to create a whole new apparel experience under the Arvind brand, he added.

The move is also part of the company's strategy to strengthen its 'The Arvind Store' retail format.

Mr. Lalbhai explained that ‘The Arvind Store’ will offer premium shirting and suiting fabrics for the discerning customer and global brands like Arrow, US POLO Association, Flying Machine and American lifestyle brand Nautica.

In addition to offering these brands, the store will also offer customized tailoring solutions with two unique concepts namely Studio Arvind and Arvind Denim Lab (ADL), he added.

Arvind also plans to open two to three similar exclusive flagship stores in metro cities in the next few months, and add another 30 stores to its existing chain of retail outlets. Unlike the 1,500 sq ft retail outlets, the flagship stores are in large formats of 4,000 sq ft.

The company plans to roll out ‘The Arvind Store’ format to over 400 stores in the next five years.
