TEA for inclusion of garments under Focus Product Scheme

Tirupur Exporters Association (TEA) has requested the Ministry of Commerce to include garments among the notified products under the 'Focus Product Scheme' that was launched recently.
This scheme aims to provide incentives to the industries on the basis of their potential to offer employment from the rural areas.
A Sakthivel, President, TEA, explained that although garment sector was successfully generating employment for the populace, it has not been included in this policy.
Sakthivel also added that the Goverenment should at once raise the drawback rate for the garment sector by three percent so as to make it more competitive in international market.
