The ProSura Food Safety Solutions was an innovation that responded to requests from food industry customers who wanted a rigorous documentation for their safety measures as part of their HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) programs. Wallace added, "G&K was the first uniform company to introduce such a program several years ago."
"This first closed-loop program ensures that at each step in the uniform laundering and delivery process, sanitizing and safety measures are implemented and documented, mitigating opportunities for contamination in food processing. Now, with BioSmart garments and towels, we are taking ProSura to the next generation of prevention."
G&K expects its BioSmart products to be popular enhancements to safety programs for food processors, grocers and restaurants. In addition, BioSmart fabrics are non-irritating to human skin and have passed the ISO skin irritation and skin sensitivity tests.
"BioSmart is both durable and effective for the life of most garments," according to Travis Greer, senior business development technologist for Milliken's Workwear Fabrics. "The fabric technology literally recharges after every washing so it is always functioning at full strength, thus providing a longer shelf life and optimizing value for the food service industry, laundries and consumers alike."
G&K Services will be demonstrating its ProSura Food Safety Solutions program and product line featuring BioSmart at both the Food Marketing Institute show, May 6-8, and the National Restaurant Association show, May 19-22, at McCormick Place in Chicago.
