The Silver Salver, which is awarded to the college judged to have contributed the best series of designs and held for one year, has been awarded to Colchester School of Art.

The judges were all impressed by the ideas of one of the designs and decided to award a "Judges Choice for Innovation" Certificate to Aimi MacKay of Grays School of Art at the Robert Gordon University.

The competition has now been running since 1975. Its purpose is to encourage students to create practical yet original glove designs. The judges look for designs that show a commercial aspect in respect of the ease of manufacture and sell-ability.
