Italian fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana (D&G) is planning to enter India and is seeking Government approval to introduce its two brands, Dolce & Gabbana and D&G Dolce & Gabbana, through a single joint venture.
Leading real estate enterprise DLF officials confirmed to Fibre2fashion that D&G is forming 51:49 joint venture with DLF.
This is probably the first international Company proposing to launch more than one brand under one joint venture, thus, attracting mixed views and disputed opinions in the matter.
Regarding this proposal, Government officials are asserting that two brands cannot be launched under a single JV. If D&G, though one company, wants to bring in two brands, it will have to form two separate collaborations.
However, DLF source rubbished these claims. He stressed that a company can, legally, launch multiple brands under a single JV.
