The rapid alert system for non-food (RAPEX) under the European Commission issued a warning to consumers on October 2, 2009 against a well-known brand of baby bib produced in China.

The country of Cyprus had lodged a complaint with the officiating agency, saying that, content of phthalate plasticizer DEHP within the product is 6.5 percent, which exceeds the limit of EU REACH standards.
