ASICS America Corporation, the athletic product manufacturer headquartered in Irvine, California, announced it will acquire its North American distributor, Agence Quebec Plus Ltd. (AQP), located in the Province of Quebec.

ASICS Corporation's Board of Directors has approved the acquisition of AQP as a subsidiary of ASICS America Corporation, effective August 31, 2010. Denis Custeau will maintain his current role as President and General Manager. The internal structure will remain in place and the sales force will continue to be independent contractors.

"AQP has had a long history of distributing ASICS in Canada and it's only logical that ASICS America Corporation purchases them," said Rich Bourne, President, ASICS America. "The goal is to continue to successfully run and operate the Canadian business as has been done for the last 30 years."

AQP's annual sales are $48 million. For three consecutive years (2007 - 2009) AQP has been recognized as one of "Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies." This accolade is given out by an independent panel of judges consisting of top financial, management and operational executives from Fortune 500 companies within Canada.

ASICS Corporation, with more than 60 years of footwear manufacturing experience, offers a full line of performance-driven athletic shoes and technical active sports apparel and accessories.
