Urban Brands files for bankruptcy protection

Urban Brands Inc, a plus-size clothing firm has filed an application before a US court on September 21, with an appeal to grant it bankruptcy protection under Chapter 11.

As evidenced by the court documents, the firm has presented a rough estimate of its assets and liabilities varying in the range of $10-$50 million and $100-$500 million, respectively.

Ashley Stewart, a subsidiary of the company, having over 200 outlets spread across the urban areas from New York to Los Angeles, designs and vends plus-size fashion clothing for women.
