Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA) Chairman, Ejaz A Khokhar, recently stated that, the country's sportswear exports are expected to rise from present four billion dollars per annum to eight billion dollars.

He stated that, owing to dearth of workers in China, buyers in the European countries were confronting issues like excessive delay in delivery of shipments and higher prices.

These European buyers are now diverting orders to Pakistan, as Pakistan offers them superior quality goods at reasonable prices and ensures timely delivery of goods, he said.

Khokhar further said that, several multi-national firms from across the world have expressed deep interest in procuring sportswear from Pakistan, as these companies too have now started focusing more on sportswear instead of fashion wear.

He said that, Europe's renowned brands import sportswear from Pakistan, which has influenced other companies and chain outlets to import the same from Pakistan.

Pakistan is the Asia's only country which has potential to cater to the global demand while offering benefits like superior quality, competitive prices and timely delivery of goods.

Khokhar stated that, rise in export volumes would add 20 percent more jobs in the sector.
