Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Brands is planning to enter the beauty and children's clothing retail segments and step up online presence by launching exclusive web stores for all luxury brands under its banner, according to a media report.

At the launch of a Hamleys toy store in Kolkata, Reliance Brands CEO Darshan Mehta told a newspaper that kids wear comprises a substantial chunk of a consumer's spending. He said the company is scouting for partnerships with brands which have fair bit of consumer knowledge in India and will be positioned in the mid-market segment.

Hamleys is the biggest business of Reliance Brands with 14 stores across eight cities.

Reliance Brands currently has partnership with 18 global mid-to-luxury brands out of which seven brands are already sold online through etailers like Amazon, Flipkart and Myntra. Mehta said the company plans to build dedicated online presence for each of its brands.

Online sales currently account for 5 per cent of Reliance Brands' total revenue. (SH)
