Thailand and Pakistan will present their final lists of items for a free trade agreement (FTA) in the next round of negotiations scheduled in December. Pakistan, which wants concession on 115 items in the areas of textiles, agro-products, plastic and pharmaceuticals, would reportedly derive benefits worth $250 million after the FTA is signed.

Pakistan has a relative advantage over Thailand in 684 commodities, including cotton yarn, woven textiles, readymade garments, leather products, surgical instruments and sports goods, a Pakistani news agency reported quoting a senior commerce ministry official.

China had agreed to provide market access to 60 items shared by Pakistan for the Pakistan-China FTA besides offering concession on all items included in the offer list, the official was quoted as saying. (DS)
