Puma has signed an 8-year endorsement deal with the current Indian Cricket team's skipper Virat Kohli, which amounts to about Rs 110 crore. The deal is inclusive of a fixed payment and royalty based on the performance of the sports brand. Puma will also launch a range of sports lifestyle products with a special brand identity in association with Kohli.

Kohli announced the news of his association with Puma over Twitter, after teasing his followers for weeks. He has termed it as the beginning of a new era.

The Indian skipper earlier had a three-year deal with Adidas, which ended in December last year as both parties decided against renewing it.

Kohli is expected to endorse the Puma brand in multiple markets where cricket is a popular sport. (KD)
