Canada Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Masud Rahman who delivered the keynote address, said, “RMG contributes about 95 per cent of Bangladesh's exports to Canada.” Higher exports to Canada would significantly help Bangladesh achieve its target to export garments worth $50 billion by 2021, he said.

He underlined that bilateral trade between Canada and Bangladesh would reach to $5 billion by 2021. To achieve this target, diversification of export both in terms of products and destination is crucial, he added.

Roger Hubert, regional head of Swedish retail giant H&M for Bangladesh and Pakistan, said the export trend of garments from Bangladesh to Canada shows that it would be able to cross $5 billion by 2020.
