Six South Korean garment companies operating in West Java had delivered some 927,500 personal protective equipment (PPE) to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) amid the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Indonesia’s Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), whose spokesperson Tina Talisa recently said the firms were committed to increasing PPE production.

To increase production, the supply of raw materials must be controlled, and therefore BKPM is coordinating with stakeholders to resolve obstacles related to the delivery of raw materials, said Talisa in a press release.

BKPM head Bahlil Lahadalia, who had earlier visited South Korean garment factories PT GA Indonesia and PT Daedong Internasional in Bogor and was informed of raw material shortage, said the board is committed to importing raw materials from South Korea and China.
