The fourth industrial textile revolution involving ‘smart clothing’ will touch a sales volume of more than $130 billion by 2025, according to Mostafiz Uddin, founder of Bangladesh Apparel Exchange (BAE), who recently said the shift from producing basic to smart clothing will not be so easy and has to be done gradually with proper planning and preparation.

The objective of the second edition of the Bangladesh Fashionololgy Summit, to be held on May 2 in Dhaka, is to facilitate this shift, Mostafiz Uddin said.

The summit’s theme, ‘Digitalization—the Next Destination’, is aligned with the Bangladesh Government’s ‘Digital Bangladesh Vision’, according to media reports in the country.

The time is ripe for Bangladesh, the second largest apparel exporter, to lead in shaping, defining and initiating a future that is sustainable and profitable for all stakeholders, said BAE managing director Mohiuddin Rubel.

Brands, garment manufacturers, technology and innovation companies, fabrics producers, software service providers from around the world will participate in the summit. (DS)
