Taiwanese vice president Lai Ching-te recently visited Habor Precision Inc., a mask manufacturer in Taichung's Taiping district to thank the company for its contributions in battling the novel coronavirus. Lai thanked the efforts of health and welfare minister Chen Shi-chung, the Central Epidemic Command Centre and the textile and the machine tool industries.

The vice president was given a tour of the facilities by company chairman Hsu Wen-hsien, who also serves as the head of the Taiwan Machine Tool & Accessory Builder's Association.

Lai lauded Hsu’s efforts to transform the country’s machine tool sector into an epidemic prevention industry, according to news agency report.

President Tsai Ing-wen hopes that Taiwan will become a global production centre for personal protective equipment, he added.
