American performance footwear and apparel brand Hoka One One, a division of Deckers Brands, has announced the launch of the Clifton 8 shoe, an update to the brand's popular franchise. The next generation of running shoe refines the Clifton franchise's union of the signature Hoka cushion, smooth-riding geometry and a lightweight construction.

The Clifton 8 running shoe delivers the weight-to-cushion ratio that offers smooth support and up-tempo capabilities. It remains light while improving on durability. The most significant update is a new ultra-light midsole foam designed to offer a soft, cushioned impact while adding an energetic response with each step, the company said in a press release.

The footwear also features a new engineered mesh upper designed to be light, highly breathable, and resilient enough for athletes to put this shoe through any workout. The wide base provides stability, while an ultra-plush tongue and refined Achilles pull tab are designed to make it comfortable.

“We have always viewed the Clifton as an 'overachiever'. Each version has exceeded the expectations of runners, both in the amount of innovation built into such a lightweight shoe, and in the experience they have while wearing it. The Clifton is also designed to empower runners to reach their next level and 'overachieve' on their own goals. The '8' is no exception, and it's arguably the most overachieving rendition yet of this game-changing shoe,” said Gretchen Weimer, vice president of product at Hoka One One.

The Clifton had debuted in 2014.
