Category-wise, the Southeast Asian nation imported 880,091 tons of cotton and 592,916 tons of yarn, valued at $1.583 billion and $1.324 billion, respectively, during the six-month period under review.
Fabric imports during January-June 2021 were valued at $7.285 billion. Of this, China alone supplied $4.583 billion of cloth, followed by South Korea and Japan with $909.070 million and $327.743 million respectively.
In 2020, Vietnam's cotton, yarn and fabric imports together totalled $16.156 billion. Of this, $2.282 billion was spent on cotton, $1.998 billion on yarn, and $11.875 billion on buying fabrics.
